GreenTek Increases US Distribution

We are thrilled to announce GreenTek recently signed up a new equipment distributor in America to increase its presence in the US market.

GreenTek already has a worldwide reputation for its revolutionary Thatch-Away Supa-System, recognised as the world’s number one greens care system. And newly appointed managing director Ian Ellis is driving GreenTek’s global growth plans, starting with a renewed focus on the US market.

Ian explains “We already have a strong customer base of superintendents (the equivalent of our UK greenkeepers) using our Thatch-Away machines with great success. So much so that there is an imitation product in the US market but without the patented features that make GreenTek’s Thatch-Away a world class system. This, combined with the buoyancy of the market and the current exchange rate levels, makes now the right time to refocus our efforts on the US golf market.”

GreenTek has been supplying Thatch-Aways to US golf courses since 2004, and established an exclusive partnership with Redexim 10 years ago with a state wide distribution agreement. A new agreement with TSP, a turf equipment specialist on the east coast offers a more flexible and local service around South Carolina and adjacent states.

Ian continues “We are still working in partnership with Redexim, but by focussing on a localised approach we can better serve individual territories based on their climates, course types and grass species. The needs of a superintendent in the rainy season in Seattle will be very different to those in Florida’s all-year-round summer weather.”

“We work with 16 distribution partners in the UK, which is only a fraction of the size of the US, so it makes sense to expand our supply network across multiple states and we are working on a deal to sign a new partner on the west coast very soon.”   

GreenTek is known for its innovative turf care equipment and Thatch-Aways are used by 88 of the top 100 golf clubs in the UK & Ireland. The revolutionary thatch removal system fits onto any brand of triplex greens mower in seconds, enabling turf maintenance to be carried out much faster than tractor mounted equipment. Often getting the job done in half the time in a single pass.

The most recent additional to GreenTek’s portfolio is the Mega-Mix, a fertiliser mixing station which provides a fast, economical way to mix your own feed.

“With the rising cost of liquid concentrate, mixing feed from soluble straights can be up to 90% cheaper and customers tell us that filling the Mega-Mix is 90% faster than using a hose. We have greenkeepers saving thousands of pounds as well as hours of time. We’d love to be able to bring the benefits of this product to our US customers too. There’s been some interest from superintendents this week, so watch this space.” says Ian, who has just returned from a week stateside delivering intensive training to enable the teams in the US to carry out demos with customers on their courses, just like they do in the UK.
