Enhanced green quality and major time savings at Fulford Golf Club

When greenkeepers at one of the North’s leading golf courses wanted a better way of overseeding their greens, they turned to GreenTek’s innovative product range for help.

Like all greenkeepers, they dreamt of dense, healthy greens but found promoting fresh new growth challenging with greens filling up with Poa Annua and members objecting to the disruption caused by overseeding.

Carl, who has worked at the club for 37 years, explains: “We previously used a sand-injection and seeding method which caused a lot of disturbance, leading to extra work to get the green back in play for members.

“The results have been amazing! The sward composition of the greens has changed from 70% Poa Annua / 30% bent, to 70% bent and only 30% Poa Annua over this 3 year period; and the germination rates have been much more than I ever thought possible.

“We spend £4,000 per year on seed (180kg of seed each year) so getting such a strong take-up maximises this investment.”

But it’s the time savings which have pleased Carl most.

He adds: “I particularly like the speed that we can overseed and the ability to get a green back in play immediately with no further work required. A process that previously typically took up to two days to complete can now be done in just half a day which is amazing.

“I don’t need to do anything afterwards – no rolling – as the seed just goes straight into the hole.
