Scarifiers & Rakes

Scarifying is the process of cutting or raking out thatch, which is dead organic matter, from within the turf surface.  If organic matter levels are not kept under control, the build-up of thatch creates a soft spongy surface which holds water, encouraging shallow rooting, but then quickly dries out when the weather turns dry, resulting in the grass dying off.

SCARIFYING GOLF GREENS AND FINE TURF

On fine turf areas such as golf greens, the Thatch-Away Supa-System units fitted with Scarifier cassettes are an exceptionally effective and efficient way to remove and collect up vast quantities of thatch. Their tungsten tipped scarifier blades stay sharp for many years, ensuring consistent performance, and resulting in healthy greens with minimal organic matter levels.

SCARIFYING GOLF COURSES AND SPORTS PITCHES

For scarifying larger areas such as golf fairways and semi-roughs, or football and rugby pitches, or cricket outfields, the GreenTek Turf-Conditioner is ideal. This has three rows of adjustable rakes, enabling it to be set gently for regularly lifting nap, or more aggressively for scarifying thatch out of the surface.
