Flicker-Brush 2.2m Solutions

Like its big brother the Flicker-Brush 5.3m, the new 2.2m version has been specifically designed to be a unique solution to the wormcast problem which is so prevalent on sports turf since the banning of Carbendazim worm killer. The 2.2m uses the same patent pending brush technology, but in a smaller unit that is ideal for areas that are smaller than a golf course such as sports pitches and school playing fields. Unlike existing brushes on the market which tend to smear the wormcasts when damp, resulting in brown muddy looking turf, the Flicker-Brush uses totally different technology to overcome this.

The bristles themselves are thicker, longer, and less densely packed so that they pass between the blades of grass, rather than smearing over the surface. The brush frame runs on castor wheels, with the bristle tips just skimming the top of the turf. This causes the bristles to flex slightly backwards, then energetically flick forwards repeatedly as the brush moves over the turf. This rapid flicking motion, combined with the extra bristle length and thickness, produces a shattering action on the wormcasts which effectively disperses them without smearing them into the turf surface.

The Flicker-Brush is also ideal for dispersing dew and topdressing. And when adjusted a little more aggressively, it is excellent for pulling out fibre and lifting the grass to overcome nap. This all-round capability makes it an excellent investment, that both improves pitch conditions, and also saves time and money.

As Vic Demain explains in the video, worms are actually beneficial to the soil, and rather than spending thousands on “soil conditioner” to suppress them, the Flicker-Brush is a far more sustainable and cost-effective long-term solution.
